Narragansett, RI Homes for Sale

Narragansett, Rhode Island – A Jewel by the Sea

Narragansett, Rhode Island is a coastal community bordered to the east by beautiful Narragansett Bay. While year-round residents enjoy the beauty of this Washington County town in the quiet off-season, visitors from near and far flock to the area’s many beaches and seasonal attractions during the summer months. Vacation homes are common and summer rentals are abundant.

Narragansett has a number of distinctive neighborhoods within its borders. Saunderstown is a coveted address thanks to its sloping lawns with views of the sea and the Jamestown Bridge beyond. Bonnet Shores is home to many summer and year-round residences and shoreline cottages, and Point Judith and Galilee are a harborage for the Block Island Ferry and always active fishing fleets. The tiny hamlet of Mettatuxet is home to the Yacht Club of the same name, while beautiful shingle style homes dot the neighborhoods surrounding Narragansett Pier. Great Island, Jerusalem, South Ferry, and Salt Pond make up several of the other individual neighborhoods, each with their own unique appeal.

For Narragansett's residents, coastal activities like surfing, kayaking, fishing, sunbathing and sailing become a way of life. The fact that golfers don’t have far to travel is an added bonus. Point Judith Country Club, Rose Hill Golf Club and the Jamestown Golf Club are just a few of the golf amenities within a short drive.

Those who prefer sightseeing to water sports won’t be disappointed. Visitors can travel to the U. S. Coast Guard Station at the Point Judith Lighthouse, Fisherman's Memorial Park, Narragansett Towers, South County Museum and Casey Farm, to name just a few of the area’s attractions.

Narragansett is also recognized as having some of the best restaurants in an area well known for its culinary delights. In fact, the Towers adjacent to the iconic Coast Guard House Restaurant is often used as an informal symbol for the town.

Narragansett Town Beach is one of the most popular of Rhode Island beaches and is home to "The Dunes Club" a private beach club that has both clay and asphalt tennis courts. It is on the National Register of Historic Places and is adjacent to the public town beach.  Other beaches in town include Scarborough, Roger Wheeler and Salty Brine State Beach.

Narragansett’s homeowners benefit from schools that have earned acclaimed recognition. For instance, Narragansett High School was ranked number one in the state by Golocalprov.com in 2014 and earned a ranking in U.S. News and World Report’s top U.S. 1000 high schools in the following year. Narragansett is also home to the University of Rhode Island’s world-renowned Graduate Oceanography Program.

Those who buy a home or rent in Narragansett have a 30-mile commute to Providence and the town’s location is convenient to Route 1 and I-95.
