Warwick is one of the more desirable places to live in Rhode Island because it's less than half an hour from the amenities of downtown Providence and South County's beaches. It's also just over an hour from some of Boston's best-known attractions, while maintaining a relaxed oceanfront lifestyle.
At the same time, living in Warwick, RI, puts you right on the shores of Narragansett Bay, which you can explore in your boat or use as a passage into Rhode Island Sound, Block Island Sound, or Buzzards Bay.
Once you buy a home in Warwick, you'll quickly learn that Warwick Cove, on the city's south coast, is loaded with marinas, giving you all kinds of choice when looking for somewhere to store your water vessel.
Here's a look at the marinas in Warwick Cove and the amenities they have available for their customers.
Harbor Lights Marina
One of the first things you'll see as you approach Warwick Cove is Harbor Lights Marina, the area's most extensive and versatile option. This venue has 225 slips for boats between 20 and 50 feet and also has a fuel dock, winter storage, service and repair, two restaurants, and a golf course.
Season pass holders will have access to the marina's infinity pool, picnic area, tiki bar with live entertainment, showers, pump-out facilities, and dockside services. The marina also has Wi-Fi, washrooms, laundry facilities, and an events center that you can rent for weddings and special events.
If you're looking for a full-service marina with a country club atmosphere, Harbor Lights is an excellent choice.
Across the cove from Harbor Lights is Fairwinds Marina, which offers a much simpler experience. This marina doesn't have a golf course or swimming pool, but they have over 90 slips for boats up to 45 feet in length, and offer free Wi-Fi to customers. Water and electricity are also available on the docks.
This marina offers winter storage and maintenance, and there's an ice cream shop called Parkey's next door if you're looking for a treat after a long day on the water.
You'll find Pleasure Marina just north of Fairwinds, and it's a small facility with 82 slips and winter storage availability. There isn't a clubhouse at Pleasure Marina, but if you're looking for a place to keep your boat without the additional amenities, this is the right choice.
There's a service contractor on-site at the marina, so you can have your repairs handled right at the marina without taking it elsewhere.
Safe Harbor Greenwich Bay
Much like Harbor Lights, Safe Harbor Greenwich Bay is full of great features that create a country club type of atmosphere. The marina itself has both wet slips and transient slips that can accommodate boats up to 58 feet in length. There's also a dry storage facility if you don't want your boat in the water, and they have winter storage, too.
Marine services at Safe Harbor include painting, mechanical repairs, fiberglass service, rigging and de-rigging, electrical repairs, and a canvas shop. There's also a fuel dock and a boat brokerage, should you want to buy something new.
There are an on-site family restaurant and an Irish pub at Safe Harbor, so you can grab a bite to eat after returning to shore. There's a swimming pool with barbecues and a picnic area for annual members, so you can make it a day in the sun without leaving the marina.
The experience at Winstead's Marina is different from the rest because it's a family-run business, and the owners live on-site at the marina. As a result, this is a smaller operation without many amenities, but you can expect fantastic customer service from the proprietors.
The marina has 162 slips that can accommodate boats up to 34 feet in length. There's also water and electricity on the docks, lots of parking, free Wi-Fi, and an on-site washroom.
Wharf Marina is another small facility with 82 slips, winter storage, a boat ramp, and plenty of parking. They also offer hauling, repairs, water, and electricity, and have boats for sale, too. One of the claims to fame of Wharf Marina is that they're an importer of Symbol Yachts, which is a luxury brand based out of Taiwan.
You can enjoy the barbecue area with picnic tables after your day on the water, and as a bonus, Wharf Marina is only minutes from TF Green Airport and downtown Warwick.
Choosing the Right Marina
As you can see, you'll have all kinds of options when choosing a marina in Warwick Cove. If all you're looking for is a place to keep your boat or maybe handle some minor repairs, locations like Winstead's, Wharf, Pleasure, and Fairwinds might be right for you. If you want luxury amenities and a place to hang out, Harbor Lights and Safe Harbor have you covered.
Keep in mind that these are just the marinas in Warwick Cove, as Greenwich Bay has even more marinas on the west side of town, giving you unparalleled access to the ocean from your new home in Warwick, RI.
